Sketchbots and 360 Drone Booth Updates From PBX 2024

The team from Picture Mosaics are in a league of their own, smashing together technology like no other. Last year they debuted the AI Sketchbots along with their early version of their 360 Drone Booth and this year they came back with enhancements to both with improved experiences and some little extras to boot! We also have to mention that they have a new spring loaded paper platform as well, which replaces the nano tape platforms, giving us an improved paper feed function for a simpler and nearly automated sketch paper delivery.

First, with the AI Sketchbots, the setup at PBX 2024 demonstrated the latest version of the software with much improved sketch rendering and output as the faces keep getting more and more accurate with the tweaks and learning models they coded into the product. Then they also debuted their color sketch beta which adds even more fun to the whole experience.

Moving on to the Drone 360Booth, they now have even more accurate and seamless functionality as well as a new 2 ^nd experience that takes not only a 360 video but also a straight on slow-motion video capture as well.

The AI Experience Demo From LA Photo Party at PBX 2024

I almost didn’t come to the photo booth Expo 2024, but knowing that artificial intelligence also known as AI was going to be one of the hottest topics of the year and debuted by many software companies at the Expo. In order to stay one step ahead of the competition in my area, it’s a given that attending the photo Booth Expo always gives me an extra edge to be one of the first in my market to offer any given service. Last year in my opinion, it was Sketch Bots from Picture Mosaics and the various audio guestbook options that were the big story. This year was clearly about AI and glam bots.

At the expo this year, I had the chances to test out the offerings from Curator , Snappic , Touchpix and LA Photo Party . All of the software that I tested at the show did a fantastic job of displaying their capabilities to date regarding AI, whether it be face swap or generative AI.

In this video I had the opportunity to get a quick run through from David Miller of the AI offering from LA Photo Party. What impressed me the most was not only the likeness of my original image to the output but also the generative AI options that were available to give more customization. Additionally, the ability to have more than one person as part of the experience seemed to put LA photo party in a different category all by themselves.

We expect all software companies to adopt a similar multi face operation with their AI capabilities and improve as time goes on. This is going to be an exciting year to see what happens with the evolving landscape of AI and the photobooth industry. There are definitely some kinks to work out on all platforms, but I have no doubt they will be perfected in no time!

Max Design Mobile Max Pro DSLR Roamer Debut at PBX 2024

At the photo booth Expo 2024 located at South Point Hotel in Las Vegas NV, there were plenty of new things to take in and be excited about coming out this year. We had the opportunity to get a close look at something photo booth owners have been asking for a while, which is a DSLR roaming photo booth that runs with an iPad. We all know that the front facing camera of the ipad will never be quite as good as a true DSLR photo, so this new product had roaming boothers as well as regular photo boothers quite excited!

In this video we took a look at the mobile Max Pro by Max Design which does just that, integrates a DSLR camera with a roaming or standalone photo booth running with an iPad. The Mobile Max Pro had everyone’s attention as we first witnessed it roaming the showroom at the opening night party for PBX 2024. Although it was an extremely dark room that night, the pictures were coming out rather well.

Paired with the Curator iPad app , this new photo booth was utilizing a Canon R50 that has the ability to use the onboard flash that was diffused through the ring light section of the front of the booth. In addition to the Canon R50, the Mobile Max Pro can also be used with the M50 and R100 cameras from Canon.

The Mobile Max Pro also can be used with the Max Design Curve Duo Photo Booth.

The ipads that can be used with this new unit are the iPad 10.9 Air / 11. Having the ability to use a DSLR camera will give us all more control over the quality of the photos as you can use the onboard controls of the camera to adjust to your setting.

D.I.Y Photo Booth Printer Print Guard

After experiencing many events where people reach for the photo strips from the printer and try to pull on them as they are coming out, there have been times when doing this the printer gets jammed. Sometimes the guests actually push the strips in as they are printing and this can cause the paper and ribbon to get caught inside the printer and at times break the media ribbon.

After seeing a few posts on some of the Facebook Groups such as the Photo Booth Network , we decided to give this D.I.Y method a try and it works! I performed this experiment on the DNP RX1 HS printer.

Using a heat & air deflector and some industrial strength velcro , it took just a few minutes to get this setup.

If you try this there are a few things to consider:

This may void your warranty, Use at your own risk
Be sure to keep the guard off when loading new paper and only attach after the printer has calibrated the media.
Only use this after the media and ribbon has gone through the calibration.

Audio guestbooks are becoming increasingly popular as a modern way to capture memories of important events. Ranking for Venues on Google and YouTube

There is an inherent pecking order and priority set on what vendors are chosen by clients in their planning process for their event. Mostly for weddings, the venue and dress are first, then the rest of the vendors are chosen in no particular order from photographers, cake, DJs and Photo Booths.

Customers will often ask friends and family, scour social media and Google for ideas for vendors to narrow down their choices to and then reach out to secure them for their date. In the process they may want to know if vendors such as photographers, DJs and photo booth companies have worked at the venue they have chosen. Knowing that these vendors are familiar with their venue of choice helps set them at ease in making their choice which is why getting on the preferred vendor list at venues can prove to be valuable.

Most venues have a limit to the number of vendors they have on their preferred list, or it can be a pay to play situation where vendors pay to be on the preferred list whether it is a flat fee to be listed or a referral fee per event booked. Getting on the list doesn’t guarantee you would be preferred by the client. The client will still most likely do their research and look at Google or YouTube for other vendors that have worked at these venues. So, when these potential clients do their research it’s a good idea to show up in the search results on Google and even on YouTube.

Here is a technique that has worked wonders to get my company in front of couples looking for not only DJs but photo booth companies that have worked on a few of the venues in my area that I prefer to work at. Follow the steps in this simple method below and you have a better chance at getting your company in front of these prospects.

1. Gather Content: If you are working at a venue you would like to get more work at be sure to take a bunch of photos and videos while you there. Take pictures and video of your setup and the party throughout the evening. Everyone has a smart phone, and the cameras are so good these days, you should be able to capture some really good content

2. Create a Video: Take the pictures and video you have from those events and make a short 30 second – 1 minute highlight reel either by using software on a computer or even use some cool phone apps. Typically, I can use an app like iMovie, Beatleap or Videoshop and have the app smash together a quick video in about 5 minutes.

3. Upload the video to your YouTube channel and set the correct optimization such as

a. Title of the Video – should include the name of the venue and the general search term used such as “Photo Booth Rental” or “Wedding DJ”

b. In the description include a link to your website

c. Use hashtags using the general search terms, city or town the venue is located and also the venue name

4. Write Your Blog Post : Hopefully you have a blog, use it! Write a short blog about the video and also optimize the blog.

a. Include the venue name and your service search term in the blog post title

b. Link to the venue

c. Embed the YouTube video you just posted to YouTube

d. Post the blog

This simple technique can possibly get you on the first page of search results for search terms related to the service you provide and that venue. You now have the opportunity to show up multiple times on search results page as not only will your YouTube video have a shot at ranking on the first page but also your blog post. It’s one thing to hear that you have worked at a venue, but to actually see your work at that venue established the trust they are looking for in choosing their vendor.

I am writing this post on November 16, 2022. I followed this technique by posting my video and writing my blog post 4 days ago and already rank on the first page for the venue I targeted. This morning I opened up my email and have a lead for a wedding for that venue… coincidence?

In this example I have screenshots below to prove the success. When prospects search for Wedding DJ Venue Name or Photo Booth Venue Name, we are right there on the first page on Google above the venue.

Take a chance and give this technique a shot, you have nothing to lose and only costs you a little bit of your time.

New update announced from Photo Booth Talk!

For those of you who have a subscription to Photo Booth Talk and utilize the template website widget, you may have received a pleasant email this past weekend announcing an upgrade to the website template widget and a promise for more upgrades to be announced at the 2023 Photo Booth Expo.

The biggest upgrades in our opinion are:

The housing of all form submissions within this dashboard. No longer do you have to sift through your emails, just login to the dashboard and all template design requests from your clients are located in one spot.
File Upload feature is a big upgrade as well, making it easy for clients to attach an image to use on the strip design such a custom logo etc.

Here are the upgrades according to the email we received

Feature #1 - New Domain Name

The client facing galleries use an unbranded domain that is not associated with PhotoBoothTalk.com. Galleries created with the new widget generator will use pbtgallery.com (short for photo booth template gallery)

Feature Set #2 - Configure Gallery Widget

Now you can create as many gallery embed codes as you could ever want or need. Use them on different areas of your website or in emails to your clients.
Create Multiple Gallery Widgets
Gallery Name - Give each Gallery a distinct name
Disable Form Submissions
Disable Color Customization Options
Rename Gallery Categories
Reconfigure as Needed
Use "Open Gallery" Link to Preview or Send Links directly to the Gallery

Feature Set #3 - Custom Questions & Uploads

For each Gallery Widget that you create, you can add custom questions to be used in your form. The options include the following:

Radio Buttons
Check Boxes
Simple Text Field
File Upload

Feature #4 - Email Addresses

The gallery authorization code used in the widget is no longer associated with your email address, so you can change your email address on your VIP account without the need to update all of your gallery embed codes on your website.

Feature #5 - Secondary Email Address in Account Setup

Set up a second email address in which to send form submissions.

Feature Set #6 - Form Submission Data

You can now check for newly submitted forms on the Form Submission Page of the Dashboard.
